Strengthening Capacities for Sustainable Economic Engagement (SCASED)
About the project
The SCASED project, funded by the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF), was one of 4S/Jumla’s most comprehensive initiatives, running from July 2006 to June 2017. Implemented in Patarasi, Gothichaur, Tila, and Tatopani Rural Municipalities, the project focused on empowering communities through skill-building, income generation, and economic infrastructure development. Major interventions included capacity-building training, microfinance and revolving funds, and construction of essential infrastructure such as irrigation systems, electricity facilities, and community buildings. By combining on- and off-farm income generation with institutional strengthening, SCASED helped thousands of households build sustainable livelihoods and improve resilience against poverty. The project remains a cornerstone of 4S/Jumla’s contribution to long-term socio-economic development in Karnali.
